As a practical matter, the side zippers are a very nice convenience, making these boots easy on and easy off. For the last few seasons, I've been wearing a similar boot, the Irish Setter Mudtrek #4586, shown above. This new set walks the same, grips the same, and adds the waterproof zippers.

You can save a few pesos by going with a non-zipper Irish Setter set, but the zipper is a nice upgrade, and these are the boots I've been using all of this season.
