Gamehide Fenceline Upland Jacket For many years, including part of this year, I've used the Columbia Ptarmigan Interchange Parka for pheasant hunting: see https://amzn.to/4gQx0Wl . It has given very good service over the years, but by now the velcro packet areas are getting a bit ratty. I'm still quite happy to recommend it, although it comes with several features like the inner fleece vest and zip-off sleeves that I don't use. I recently started using the “Gamehide Fenceline Wind Blocking Upland Field Pheasant Jacket With Game Bag” and I'm impressed to say the very least. It goes for about a hundred dollars, see https://amzn.to/49YTkL5 . It certainly does block the wind, it is extremely stretchy, comfortable, and warm. Down to 15 – 20 degrees F. or so, all I need is a light and thin down jacket or vest beneath it. Above freezing, you might find that you need nothing more than a reasonably thick flannel shirt beneath it. Unlike the Columbia, the side pockets are closed with a snap if you think it is necessary-- usually, I don't. The side pockets have five shell holders in each side. It is easy to spend a lot of cash on “accessories” that you don't need and rarely use. This Gamehide Upland jacket isn't one of those things, it is a standout, and the best hundred dollar value out there for the upland hunter. I'm delighted with it and I think you will be as well. |
