Fishing Panga

A fishing panga on the beach at the Hotel Rancho Leonero, East Cape, Baja California, Mexico. A fine place from which to sample East Cape sportfishing. Photo by Chuck Hawks.

Action during a wide-open tuna bite on the 95' long range sportfisherman "Searcher" out of San Diego, California. This was a Western Outdoors Magazine sponsored trip, and all 25 passengers limited out. Photo by Chuck Hawks.

22 lb. Chinook salmon

That's me holding a 22 lb. Chinook salmon I caught trolling a silver Blue Fox Super Vibrax No. 6 spinner on 20 lb. line. Taken on the Siuslaw River near Cushman, about two miles upstream from the town of Florence, on the Oregon coast. 30 September 1995.

126 pound Striped Marlin

A 126 pound Striped Marlin caught on 30 pound line by Charles Hawks (my father) off Catalina Island on 11 September 1959. Taken on the troll behind our family boat "Chalu," this fish took 1 hr. 52 min. to land. The people in the photo are (from left to right): Bob Trennert (captain), Chuck Hawks (yeah, that's me as a teen), Charles Hawks (fisherman w/rod), Lugene Hawks (my mother).
