The G-Force Filthy Pheasant O/U Shotgun By Randy Wakeman ![]() The “Filthy Pheasant” is ridiculously cheap O/U shotgun with street prices hitting $400 or less. Imported by G-Force Arms in Reno, Nevada, it is the lowest price shotgun I've tested in many years. It is a no-frills shotgun, with an alloy receiver, an unflattering matte black chrome finish, and simple extractors. The tested example is the 28 inch barreled 12 gauge, weighing in at 6 pounds, 5.7 ounces. Like most people, my expectations rise in concert with the cost of the product: it is fair to say that my expectations here were close to non-existent. The Filthy Pheasant is apparently made by Radikal Arms out of Konya, Turkey. However, the Filthy Pheasant surprisingly shot to
point of aim with good barrel regulation, its mechanical
triggers did not double, and the safety was easy to get off.
This Filthy Pheasant arrived with a chip of wood missing
from the forearm: to the credit of G-Force, a no charge
replacement was quickly sent out. ![]() ![]() Above: Those looking for
high recoil and nasty muzzle rise with 1 oz. 1250 fps
loads will be truly delighted with the Filthy Pheasant. The triggers were mushy and excessively heavy, the gun is extremely high recoil as you might expect with a 6-1/4 lb. 12 gauge O/U, and the nose-heavy balance is strikingly horrific. Relatively heavy barrels and a light, alloy receiver guarantee the pig on a snow shovel affliction. Unlike many far more expensive shotguns, the Filthy Pheasant comes with five extended Mobil-choke style tubes and a limited lifetime warranty. While this isn't remotely close to a shotgun I would actually hunt with, the Filthy Pheasant comes in at a price that no one can take serious issue with. It is a clunky, unattractive, harsh-shooting, unfortunately balanced shotgun at a very, very low price. |
