And yet we regularly give our energies and resources to things that become idols in our lives. Isn't it fascinating that one of today's most popular TV shows is called "American Idol"? In any love relationship, there comes a time when the lovers say to one another, "It is you and no one else." When the Lord gave this command, it was not because He felt threatened by other gods or idols. No, it was because He knew that allegiance to false images would break our hearts and waste our lives.
