SEAL - Naval Special Warfare Foundation Mission is to Honor, Assist and Educate NSWF Press Release Incorporated in 2000 as a national non-profit charitable corporation, the Naval Special Warfare Foundation (NSWF) was established to assist families and members of the United States Naval Special Warfare community in need. The NSW (Naval Special Warfare) Command consists primarily of Navy SEAL (Sea-Air-Land) units and SWCC (Special Warfare Combatant Crewmen) support forces, and is the Naval component of the U.S. Special Operations Command. The NSWF provides funding, care and assistance under three distinct components: Education and Motivation, Health and Welfare, and History and Heritage. The Education and Motivation mission of the foundation focuses on assistance toward education. Eight scholarship programs combine to award over 100 scholarships to both families and active members of the Naval Special Warfare community. In addition to academic scholarships, the NSWF provides funding for supplies and has donated more than $30,000 in computers to children of NSW warriors lost in combat or training. Health and Welfare programs offer financial support and planning assistance, memorial service and travel assistance, holiday gifts for families in need, and most recently, assistance for personnel affected by Hurricane Katrina. It is the mission of NSWF to provide support to families during times of tragedy by removing the burden of expenses and offer events that enable the families to become a part of the NSW community. The History and Heritage pillar of the foundation co-publishes a quarterly magazine, The BLAST, and is actively involved in multiple SEAL memorials, parks, and displays, which honor those who have served our Country. The foundation aims to ensure that all Naval Commandos are remembered, recognized and that the legacy of NSW is continued. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation is a national non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation dedicated to honoring all who have served in the United States Navy sea commandos services.
