G.P.S. Razor Gut Hook and Pelvic Bone Saw There were lots of new gadgets for hunters at the 2011 SHOT Show. Two of the most notable ones were inexpensive, lightweight and compact accessories from G.P.S. The first is a lightweight razor gut hook. We know that a lot of hunting knives come equipped with gut hoots. We have three of them ourselves. However, there are two problems with gut hooks that are integrated with the knife blade. First, when they get dull, it is extremely difficult to sharpen them. Second, they frequently get in the way when you are trying to dress out and skin the animal. The razor gut hook eliminates both problems. With an MSRP of $4.99 for the two-pack, these handy gadgets can be used until they become dull and then thrown away. With a pair of these in the backpack, one never has to worry about a dull gut hook again. The second useful tool for the field is the pelvic saw. This new generation bone saw easily cuts through bone with its stainless steel wire. If you have ever used those fold-up or sheath bone saws, you know how the blades bend and how hard it is to cut a pelvic bone with them. Not so with this little jewel, it cuts through bone like a hot knife through butter. Well, maybe not that fast, but fast enough. The wire is easily stored inside the handles and they fit neatly in the carrying case provided with each saw. With an MSRP of $19.99, this saw will provide years of reliable service for any hunter. G.P.S. products can be found, nationwide, at your local sporting goods store. If your local store does not have them yet, they can contact G-Outdoors for a wholesale distributor in your area. |
